Quick view of what your students are doing in the classroom.
Hopefully, your year is off to a wonderful start. We continue to be busy in humanities for both seventh and eighth grade. The eighth graders are studying Andrew Jackson's presidency and his Indian Removal Act. They just finished reading about the Trail of Tears and, hopefully, have gained some empathy for what the Native Americans suffered. We are quickly moving towards the Civil War as we see sectional divisions that are creating big cracks in our national unity. In religion, the students are reading about morality and we discuss decision making as it pertains to their own lives. They have a test this week, and we will continue with morality until the end of the year. The seventh graders are preparing for a test on the early Middle Ages. We will learn about the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance and then begin Washington State History. For this unit, they will read two novels and take an exciting field trip to the International District in Seattle. Currently, the Annual Gift Campaign (AGC) 2017 is taking place. As one of three major fundraisers to support the mission of ICOLPH School, the school staff has pledged 100% participation and we are asking all school families to join us. All donations count toward your annual fundraising obligation. AGC donations can be returned to school with your student! Your support is much appreciated! Also, the school is gearing up for the auction on March 10th. Your procured items go a long way in making sure the auction is a success. If you are not sure what to procure, you can go Amazon Smile ICOLPH Auction Wish List to help you procure that perfect item. The wish list is located on AmazonSmile! I hope to see you there. It promises to be a very fun night.
