I hope you are enjoying the nicer weather. Spring is in the air and so is the students' longing for spring break. If your family is planning a trip outside of the school Easter break, please remember that your child will not receive a homework packet. I am more than happy to help them make up the work when they return.
Speaking of Easter vacation, it is rather late this year and the students will just have a short time until the end of the year (8th grade five weeks and 7th grade six weeks). Please encourage them to stay on top of their school work and to finish the year strong.
The end of the year is busy for both classes. Eighth grade still has to finish the Civil War and cover Reconstruction, Westward Expansion, and Immigration. They also have one more novel to read. I can say that your 8th graders will not be bored and busy until the end of the year. I will be sending out a letter after Easter vacation with all the important dates surrounding graduation.
Please come and join us on Friday, April 19th at 11:00 for the Passion Play. The 8th graders have put in a lot of hard work and you will enjoy their performance.
In 7th grade, they are learning about Washington State History. We have quite a bit to cover and will move at a fairly quick pace. Your child will have more work as there is quite a bit of curriculum attached to this unit.
Here are some important dates to remember:
April 10th: Graduation pictures at 8:15. Students should be in nice attire.
April 11th: 7th grade field trip to the International District
April 17th: Religion term paper due
April 19th: Passion Play at 11:00 followed by noon dismissal.
April 22-26th: Easter Vacation
April 29th: School back in session
